Anne Tharpe

A longtime a fitness enthusiast, Anne was certified as a personal trainer in 2002 by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Five years later she completed the renowned YogaWorks teacher training program with James Brown.  Spurred by a desire to deepen her understanding of teaching newcomers to yoga and those with physical challenges, in the spring of 2008 Anne began advanced teacher training (RYT 500) with Mark Stephens. She has attended numerous teacher training workshops with him on topics including Working With Injuries, Teaching Pre/Post-Natal Yoga, Planning & Sequencing Classes, and Hands-On Assisting. She recently completed Therapeutic Yoga Training with yoga therapy leaders Cheri Clampett and Arturo Peal. Anne is presently in the in-depth advanced teacher training program with Leslie Kaminoff, author of the best-selling Yoga Anatomy.

Anne understands that each individual is unique and believes that yoga can be a means of self-exploration, as well as a way to support one's health and the body's healing abilities.  In her classes she provides guidance in proper alignment and appropriate modifications, offering a calm, supportive space for each student to develop their personal yoga practice.  Emphasizing the fundamentals of stability and ease, a strong foundation, a lengthening spine, and attention to the breath, students learn to focus inward to develop their connection between mind and body.
