Yin & Restorative Yoga with Gong Meditation

A passive practice, Yin Yoga involves variations of seated and supine poses typically held for 3 to 5 minutes, accessing deeper layers of fascia. It encourages the flow of Prana (chi energy) throughout the entire mind/body/spirit complex. Following the muscular relaxation, we will move into full Restorative poses with the continued use of props (blankets, bolsters, blocks, and sand bags) to further the release and restoration process for the mind and spirit. Calming breathing techniques, gentle guided relaxation instructions and focus on letting go and feeling the experience provide a safe and nurturing experience. We will end the class with a Gong sound bath to smooth out any remaining tensions to help you feel renewed, recharged, and deeply relaxed. Feel the stress, tension and restless mind release. Please join us for this unique and nourishing class. Offered Wednesday evenings, 7:30-8:45 pm.

Ashtanga Mysore

Ashtanga yoga, as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, is a traditional system of yoga in which breath is synchronized with movement to link postures together in a sequential order. Utilizing a powerful breath, internal energy locks (_bandhas)_, and a focused gaze (_dristhi)_, with practice the body becomes strengthened and realigned, and the mind is calmed, ultimately leading the practitioner to a deeper awareness of Self. This class is taught in the traditional Mysore style, in which each student practices an appropriate series of postures at the pace of their own breath, receiving individualized instruction and adjustments from the teacher. The class is open to all levels, and beginners are welcome; those new to the practice will be led step by step through Ashtanga’s Primary Series. If you are new to Ashtanga, please arrive at the start of class.
